“New York band finds sweet victory in a wicked game.”
New York’s 7th Squeeze is releasing their self titled first album which includes the simple, beautiful and atmospheric song ‘Wicked Game’. Originally performed by Chris Isaak, and featured in the movie ‘Wild at Heart’, the song has been covered by many notable artists, including Daughtry, Pink, REM, and Gemma Hayes, to name a few.
Vocal powerhouse Nick Horace, a two-time Top Dog winner at the famed Apollo Theatre, brings his velvet voice and impressive range to ‘Wicked Game’ and is a performance not to be missed.
The 7th Squeeze’s signature collision of rock, pop, soul and R&B delivers a sound that is unique and memorable. This high-energy band delivers rock that stomps, vocals that sizzle and an excitement that blows the roof off. They have shared the stage with Halestorm, Jane’s Addiction and Alice in Chains; the new album puts them front and center.
In addition to ‘Wicked Game’, the album features 14 original songs, many of them chosen by fans, who helped supported and fund the release through an online social media campaign.
With the versatile vocals by Nick Horace, the band features Jesse Sample as lead guitar and songwriter, Tim ‘the Witchdoctor’ Brosnan on percussion and Gary Ljungquist on bass. Drummer Vinnie Amico of MOE makes a guest appearance on 7 of the 15 tracks. The album was mastered by Toronto’s Michael Borkosky who has produced for numerous artists including Alannah Myles of ‘Black Velvet’ fame.
This remarkable debut from an eclectic group that cannot be easily pigeonholed is definitely worthy of attention; as one reviewer noted “it is the odd and interesting mixture of styles that gives the band it’s satisfying crunch”.
